THREE BIG THINGS THIS WEEK

  1. We are still working on the hot-fix release to 0.7.0 that fixes a few 🐛🐛.

  2. Adrianne is working on collapsing Andrea’s C++ training vignettes into a single vignette and adding them to the FIMS repository.

  3. A new effort will begin to migrate the FIMS requirements to Issues and label them as epics to help with getting information regarding timelines out to more people in an efficient way. This will be a long-term effort and not be anywhere near completed by the end of the week.

FIMS ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • There will be a FIMS training at the National Stock Assessment Workshop in La Jolla, California on January 26th in the afternoon. The training will focus on how to run a simple FIMS model on a Google Cloud workstation and providing assistance for fitting data sets brought by attendees with FIMS.
  • Please welcome 👋 Dan Goethel to FIMS.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK

As a great way to visually show off code to create a {ggplot2} figure, there is a newer package out called ggram that displays the code used to create a figure alongside the figure itself using {patchwork}. This could be a unique way to display figures in training materials such as vignettes, especially vignettes that are meant to be displayed as presentations.

A ggplot2 example of a scatter plot with a line where it shows the code to create the ggplot2 image on the left. The code appears to be written in a notebook page in a three-ring spiral binder.
